Among the books that I am reading are J.D. Salingers “The Catcher in the Rye” (about the eighth time), Terry Pratchett’s ““Pyramids” (love anything by Terry Pratchett - for the good of the world and Mr. Pratchett, may the progression of his Alzheimer’s disease be slow and mild), Tom Standage’s “A History of the World in 6 Glasses” (just started), and Diablo Cody’s “Candy Girl” (what a great read). OK, OK, OK — maybe I do sometimes (SOMETIMES!) get scattered into too many interest.
I am really enjoying Diablo Cody’s writing and her description of her life as a stripper but I guess I am out of touch. Not really being experienced in the culture of strip clubs (or ever have been), I am surprised by her description in the book of lap dancing over dudes with nothing between her panty-covered crotch and the dude’s dick but sweatpants all the way until climax - at least his. Well not surprised. Not shocked. Not even judgmental. Hell, if she was comfortable, enjoyed herself, got something out if her experience, and this enabled her to give us “Juno” - I am all for it. Thank you. More, I am out of touch with the various grades of sex. I always thought of stripping as the on the stage, take your clothes of part. Once you accept rubbing your panty-covered crotch on sweatpant covered dicks, aren’t into something beyond stripping? Guess I am out touch with the terminology of the sex trade. I would have thought crotches and sweatpants were closer to rubbing a rubber covered dick? Seems it would pay a whole lot better. If I ask Still Here Too I get a look I don’t even know how to describe, but she is of the same over-the hill generation as me. Anyone care to explain ’cause, I admit, I am lost.
Is Still Here
