Some of the more sexually aggressive males of my high school generation (pre-Woodstock, or for the younger of you, pre-AIDS, pre-big hair band eighties, pre-Grunge nineties, you know the old, old days) used to talk about “blue balls”. They would tell the girls that leaving them so excited without “blowing their wad” would give them “blue balls”. This was some mysterious disease that would cause permanent damage and just hard to be relieved, right then. I have no idea if any of the girls believed those that tired this scheme. For that matter, I have no idea if any of the girls went along with the line as a good excuse because in those days you needed an excuse - I gather none is needed today. Just so you know, most of us were much more naïve in those days than you would probably suspect.
Little would the kiddies of the mid sixties have suspected that as they approached the age of sixty, they just might be faced with really blue balls? Maybe even worse. Modern science and pharmaceuticals have brought us Viagra, Cialis and Levitra. But age and illness has for some us also brought circulatory problems, neurological problems, sexual performance-suppressing medications, musculoskeletal issues - all of which, despite the best efforts of Still Here Too can prevent ejaculation period, end of story, no matter, how much the erection. Tried everything, oral, anal, prostrate massage. This goes way beyond blue balls. After days and days, purple balls comes to mind. Thanks to my magic fingers, Still Here Too does not have to suffer this fate. I really do have magic fingers!
But there is a message beyond sexual frustration. The advantage of a long-term, loving, sharing relationship should be obvious. We put up with each other in spite of our short comings because we believe in each other, because we trust each other, because we know that we will always be there for each other. Because this is what love truly is. This is what love is after 37 years. In spite of all the shit, this is what love is. Thank everything for that, life is so much better for it.
Is Still Here
