I just finished reading Joan Price’s wonderful book “Naked at Our Age: Talking Out Loud About Senior Sex”. The principle topic is senior (people over fifty) sexuality. This is a topic that most younger people and many older people seemed to believe either is a myth or something that should not be discussed or even (ew) gross. But senior sex is neither a myth nor a topic that should not be discussed or gross. Senior sex is seniors being people.
What comes through very clearly in Ms Price’s book is that senior sex differs from young people sex by the complexities of the impact life has had on seniors. Sex is just as important to the health and well-being of seniors as it is to young people. The expression of sex in the life of seniors just is adapted to ways appropriate for their life, which may be different for different seniors.
I found the individual stories enlightening. The breadth of experience of the different stories just reinforces how we all have different lives and different life experiences. There is also a strong underlying theme in many of the individual stories and also in Ms Price’s own very open reflections of her life with Robert Rice; there is true love and affection expressed in the stores, even between people who have not been able to resolve their physical sexual relationship.
This is a book all adults would benefit from reading.
Read Joan Price’s book to better understand the lives of seniors. Read this book to understand better how to live a rewarding sexual life as a senior. Read this book to better understand how you will age when you become a senior and how to maintain a rewarding sexual life. Read this book to better understand how to communicate among society so that we can all lead more rewarding and satisfying lives.
We owe Joan Price great thanks for this book, for collecting these stories, for collecting the expert advice, for bringing this topic to public attention and discussion. Senior sex has been a topic kept in the shadows way too long.

Thanks for the review. I’ve added it to my wish list. Gaak! My unread stack of books I’ve bought is already nearly a meter high!
Geezer-chick,
I can relate to a meter-high pile of unread books having allowed mine to grow to as much as two meters in the past!
Have just received my copy of a book written by another Twitter friend (Betty Herbert) entitled “The 52 Seductions”. Looks like another worthwhile read. I will let you know when I finish. If work will ever slow down enough to let me find time to catch up on the stack of unread books
.
