None of the Above

Time has come for a major change in our elec­tion sys­tem. In addi­tion to the can­di­dates who stand for elec­tion to an office, we need to be given the choice of vot­ing for “None of the Above”. If “None of the Above” receives the most votes, than all of the can­di­dates on the bal­lot lose and new can­di­dates must run in a new elec­tion. We keep hold­ing elec­tions until we find a can­di­date who can not only receive more votes than “None of the Above” but also a major­ity of votes cast.

Sure, it would make our elec­tions cost more, but it would weed out the extrem­ists we have been elect­ing lately.

Per­haps if we adopt this approach, we could actu­ally elect some peo­ple who could find a way to resolve the country’s issues instead of grand­stand­ing like the buf­foons are now.
